From time to time I am contacted to collaborate on various publications. Here are some examples of the books where you can find photographs of my own: "As Aves do Jardim Gulbenkian" and "Atlas dos Morcegos de Portugal Continental".
The Birds of the Gulbenkian Garden
Between 2012 and 2013, the project "Um Mês...Uma Ave" took place, where 41 species of birds were recorded and photographed in the 7.5 ha of the Gulbenkian Garden. This guide represents a contribution to a better understanding of the importance of the Gulbenkian Garden in the city context in which it operates.
The recorded species can be divided into resident species, which occur in the garden throughout the year, and migratory species, which frequent the garden during their migratory trajectories. The garden has a great diversity of habitats, which translates into a great diversity of species.
This book introduces us to each of these species, their habits, their characteristics, but above all, it allows us to understand the ecological significance of their presence in this space and the interactions they establish with it.
The author (texts)
Dr. João Eduardo Rabaça is a biologist, professor at the University of Évora and coordinator of the Ornithology Laboratory at the same institution. Founding partner of the Portuguese Society for the Study of Birds, national delegate of the European Bird Census Council, author of several atlases, books and scientific articles on avifauna and one of the most relevant ornithologists in Portugal.
The author of the photographs, Diogo Oliveira, is a photographer and Master in Conservation Biology.
The book can be purchased at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation store in Lisbon (Av. de Berna, 45A / 1067-001 Lisbon) for €12.50.
